Sharleen Spiteri

The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation are proud to have presented the “Maybe Baby” 2 year loan guitar to Sharleen Spiteri the Scottish band “Texas”

Sharleen is Scottish recording artist, songwriter, and the lead singer of the rock band “Texas”. Along with her band “Texas”, Ms. Spiteri has sold over 20 million records.

“It’s such an honour to receive my “Maybe Baby” guitar from The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation. Apparently, Mick Jones from “The Clash” nominated me.”

“It arrived in a wonderful white case with pink lining. The idea is that I keep it for two years, then it goes to another artist and, eventually, it will be displayed in the Buddy Holly Center in his hometown of Lubbock, Texas. Perhaps the fact that I’m in a band called “Texas” was one of the reasons they chose me. I’ve written a few songs on this guitar, including “Dry Your Eyes” from our album. It’s also been out on tour with me. I love playing it live because the leather case gives it a slightly different sound. Plus, it’s just such a good look. Texas’s new album, “The Conversation”, is out now.”
