The mission of The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation is to honor Buddy’s legacy as well as to make Buddy and Maria Elena Holly’s dream of extending musical education, including songwriting, production, arranging, orchestration, and performance, to new generations regardless of income or ethnicity or learning levels. We will empower a new generation to follow in Buddy’s footsteps.

Legacy
To promote Buddy Holly’s legendary music so that it continues to remain relevant and inspirational for future generations of fans and musicians.
Education
To make the “dreams and wishes” of Buddy and Maria Elena Holly come true by promoting musical education for youth. The Foundation will raise funds to encourage young people to learn how music can change their lives, to enable schools to provide educational materials, and to advocate for the inclusion of musical study in teaching.
Ambassadors
To honor internationally renowned artists from all genres of music and countries, and to present to them perfect replicas of Buddy Holly’s original Gibson J-45, on which he wrote so many of his legendary songs. These Foundation “Ambassadors” will each receive on loan one of these unique guitars, each one containing an original fret from Buddy’s J-45, “From His Hand to Your Heart.” Each guitar will be named after a song from Buddy’s amazing catalog, with a hand-made outer leather cover identical to the one Buddy had himself for his first guitar.
Recording Studio
To build in Texas a teaching studio, from which the seeds of raw talent can learn and grow into mighty oak trees of music. Students from around the world will be invited to come to the studio to learn about Buddy, the craft of song and recording, and the business of music.
Next Generation
To create an historical music reference through the Foundation’s participating international artists. The Foundation is proud and honored that some of the founding fathers of the rock and roll movement have accepted our invitation to honor Buddy’s music legacy, together with other renowned international artists who have made major contributions to music and entertainment through the succeeding decades. These great artists will help the Foundation gain insight into the evolution of popular music over the years, from when Buddy and his peers changed the course of music history forever, and continuing into the future. With their help, we will create educational materials and opportunities to pass that knowledge on to young people throughout the world. Through these efforts, we hope that new young artists will join our talented team of world-class musicians, singers, songwriters, producers and arrangers in honoring Buddy’s Legacy and helping us fulfil the “dreams and wishes” of Buddy and Maria Elena Holly and enable the Next Generation of artists to flourish.
