Learning The Game Guitar

Learning the Game

(US)

Two special Learning The Game guitars.

These guitars represent the “dreams and wishes” of Buddy and Maria Elena Holly.

Maria Elena chose the name from one of the last songs Buddy wrote and recorded in their NY apartment,as it embodies everything TBHEF is hoping to achieve in the future.

It’s Maria Elena’s wishes that TBHEF provides an opportunity to young hopeful musicians from whatever ethnicity or background,to gain access to music education and instruments, together with a sound knowledge of the legal implications when contemplating a future in the music/entertainment industry, thus avoiding the pitfalls that befell Buddy and so many of his contemporaries in those early pioneering days of Rock n Roll.

So,commencing this autumn, and then annually on alternate years, one year in the USA at The Buddy Holly Centre in Lubbock and the next in the UK in London,TBHEF will hold on every September 7th [ Buddy’s birthday ] a unique Learning The Game event and concert.
At the event, each year,a new young singer/songwriter,chosen by a panel of music industry personnel, will be awarded with a $10,000.00 donation and the loan for one year of a Learning The Game guitar from TBHEF,plus other sponsorships.

This annual event will we believe, not only become a much needed springboard for talented musicians from anywhere in the world to showcase their songs, but also, provide an opportunity for record companies and publishers to become aware of new young artists, when often, these artists wouldn’t otherwise ever have a chance to display their artistic abilities.

TBHEF web-site will be publishing details of how you may enter the singer/songwriter contest in the coming weeks,so please keep logging in to see updated information.

Buddy Holly Hofner President Guitar

The Buddy Holly Hofner President

I certify that the Hofner President Guitar No 2559 has been in my possession since 1958.It is the same instrument that Buddy Holly used for practise and recreational purposes on his only UK tour.

As I was on the same bill with Buddy Holly and The Crickets, as the compare/comedian, Buddy and I became friends.

While Buddy and The Crickets were awaiting their instruments to arrive in the UK from the USA, Buddy asked me to take him to a music shop to help him find an acoustic guitar for recreational use.

I took him to Maurice Plaquet music shop in London, where Buddy acquired the Hofner President serial # 2559. Buddy used the guitar on the tour bus and in hotel rooms throughout the 1958 UK tour. When the tour ended, before he left to return to America, Buddy gave me the guitar. This same instrument has been in my sole possession ever since.

I have now sold this Hofner Guitar to Peter Bradley Snr for an undisclosed sum, on the understanding that it will hopefully be exhibited for a minimum of five years in The Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland Ohio USA via Peter Bradley Snr through his charity The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, which was established in April 2010 with Maria Elena Holly and himself.

This therefore is a certificate of authenticity that this rare instrument was used by Buddy Holly on his 1958 UK tour and gifted from him to me the undersigned.
